A little visit to the farm

What could top our fun-filled trick-or-treat experience? Nothing, I thought. But my godmother had other plans in store. Saturday they took us to a place in Houston called Old McDonald's Farm. I think she saw how much fun we had a few weeks ago at Sweet Berry Farms and wanted to do something like that again. And it did not disappoint!
Sigh. These two. They are my favorites.
There was this little train that did a quick loop around the grounds. Ryan was obsessed. I think he rode it 20 times. Emma loved it, too, maybe just not as many times ;)
She now can say "Mimi" and has it correctly assigned to the right person! And she really worked it well this weekend.
Mimi and PaPaw got a few rides in with the kiddos
Feeding the goats... she got a kick out of their tongues tickling her hand
She also perfected her "baaaaa" sound
These jumping goats scared other kids, but made her laugh. Fearless, I swear.
One of her favorite parts of the day? Jumping in the hay. For probably half an hour. Hilarious.
She seemed interested in the horses as we waited in line, but we really thought she'd hate it. I mean, she hated the carousel at Disney, right? We figured we'd stick her on a horse and try and take a quick picture before she flipped out.
Off they go
She looks like a natural!
Totally, completely loving it. She actually CRIED when we took her off. I've never seen her do that before. I see riding lessons in our future...
See? Not every moment is picture perfect. Because... terrible twos.
She always has that tongue out. It kills us.
She wanted to bring home every pumpkin in the place. This girl was made for fall.
Very gross, very wet, very wonderful kisses
Love my little family
It's nearly impossible to take a photo with two toddlers. Close enough, right?
Don't know what I would do without these two.
Thanks for a wonderful weekend, Powells!

Halloween Retrospective

It's November! What a wonderful month.

We just got back from a wonderful weekend in the Woods where we went so the Ems could go trick-or-treating with her cousin and Mimi and Papaw. And it did not disappoint... turns out my kid LOVES Halloween! I think it'll be her favorite holiday.
I didn't end up having time to finish our costumes, but we did manage to scrape together enough to work. Lilo and Stitch is one of her (and my!) favorite movies and I personally think Nani is one of the best Disney role models.

Little Lilo loved running up to the doors and knocking (quietly, mama helped with the doorbell) and then trying to go into people's homes. Lawl. She couldn't manage "trick-or-treat" but did offer a cute "peeeeease" and "thank you." Melts my heart. We don't have many photos - it was too dark :(
Her favorite part of the night was pulling that dang wagon. I am seriously going to have to get one of these!

And even though Halloween is over, I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at some previous year's costumes - maybe they'll give you some ideas for next year!
2013 - Sully, Boo, and Mike Wazowski
2012 - Thing 1 and Thing 2 (and Thing 3)
2011 - The Up! house and Karl
2010 - A pregnant 50s housewife and her milk man (it's a pillow!)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, friends! I hope all you ghouls and goblins are having more treats than tricks today. We are out having some hallow's eve fun, but I wanted to do a quick post and show off the fun Halloween party our play group had the other day!

Before...
After! Madness.
Um, yes. Definitely my child. Who cares about decorating when you can eat?
Just a few more sprinkles...
He was NOT having this... haha love you Baby L!
I looked up and this one's stabbing his cookie. His mama should probably sleep with one eye open...
She totally got into the decorating. In between eating.
Gotta have some snacks, and cute Halloween ones are abundant on good ol' Pinterest
Then it was time to paint pumpkins! Nothing cuter than 8 toddlers stripped down to their diapers. Don't worry... it's totally Crayola washable paint. One of my better decisions ;)
Got a little war paint going on there, kid
I showed her how to make little dots with the brush and kinda chanted "Poke-A-Dot!" and she starts mimicking me going "doh-DOOOH-DAAAAAH!" It was too cute.
As the party was winding down, I couldn't find Emma. Turns out, she had run back to the kitchen and was *determined* to get to that frosting. I'm not even mad, that's just impressive.
My little future baker. Love!
I think my kid ate her weight in frosting. I never imagined she'd love cookie decorating so much. We will definitely have to do this again! Hope you all are having a sweet Halloween :)
